Maturity in Christ: Evangelism

One of the questions many Christians have as they grow with Christ is: Are there any tips on converting someone you love who isn’t a believer in Christ? We will help clear out the fog around this question today.

What is evangelism?

Jesus gave the great commission to his disciples to go into the world and proclaim the gospel to the whole creation. Our God has shown us that one of His duties on earth is to create people and families that will expand His kingdom. This is God’s mandate upon Himself. If you believe that God is who he says He is, you will appreciate the fact that God is constantly on a personal mission to grow his flock and bring people like your loved ones back to fellowship with Him.

The best tips on practical evangelism of our loved ones come from Jesus Christ himself.

Here are a few answers to some common questions:

1. How can I pray for my loved one to be converted?

Jesus was aware that the actual conversion and revival was the work of the Father Himself. However, Jesus was also aware that he had to pray constantly for wisdom and spiritual guidance so that he could hear God’s instructions clearly on how to go about the mission.

You can also pray for guidance as Jesus did. Pray that their eyes open up to see that God has such a great love for them. Pray that all of the things hindering them from believing in God get removed completely.

2. How can I approach converting my loved one?

With his disciples, Jesus had to meet a couple of them at their place of work. Andrew, Simon, Peter, James, and John had been fishing all night, and Jesus met and led them into a miracle. There is a strong message in approaching your loved one at their places of interest.

A simple prayer, a simple text message during work hours, a simple gift reminding them that Jesus is Lord over all the earth, and that same Jesus loves them and wants a relationship with them could be a good evangelistic act.

3. Can I convert to Christianity through my personal testimony?

Yes, you can. Jesus is the word of God in human form. Even Jesus himself could have written the Bible, but God created it so that men will write the Bible word for word, as inspired by the Spirit of God. We are the instruments through which the word of God becomes real manifestations here on earth. You can proclaim the gospel through words of your testimonies.

Share your testimony with your loved one. Our words of testimonies are like triumphant cries proclaiming the goodness of God not just in our lives, but on earth. All that see and hear will marvel at the goodness of God, including your loved one. Amen.

Studying your Bible is a great way to understand the importance of stories that prove God’s power is alive on earth. These Biblical stories can pierce the heart of your non-believing loved one.
